This year I want my painting to be about barbie and poverty. Very different things right? thats the point. I want to expand on the fact that barbie ( which represents a more well off and portrayed as beautiful woman ) is not satisfied with herself and the things she has but yet the starving people that are burdened with poverty make the most of what they have and cherish it. Barbie is always smiling but its a very fake smile. yet The people that are starving have the most beautiful true smiles. I want to somehow expand on the fact that we come into this world the same way but we arent born with the same opportunities. And we are the same once we gone but when an african baby dies before they are 10 from the effects of poverty and most of the time probably wouldnt even get a funeral it doesnt mean as much as it would if a young girl dies in a 1st world country.
There are over 18,000 kids that die from the effects of poverty each day.
